Our agency believes children learn as they play and interact with other children and with adults. Our program is child driven, as we teach based on children’s interests and individual learning styles and needs. Our special education teachers integrate the NYS Common Core Standards into the classroom curriculum to ensure that our preschool students are prepared for kindergarten. Quarterly evaluations are completed for our special needs children to ensure they are meeting objectives toward their yearly goals.
CDG offers two integrated preschool classrooms, in Ticonderoga Elementary School and in Elizabethtown Central School, which incorporate creative learning and play. Between the hours of 8:00am-1:00pm our classrooms integrate special needs children with their typically developing peers. We have a certified Special Education teacher and a certified Teaching Assistant in each classroom. These classrooms also have licensed Speech and Language Pathologists, Physical Therapists, and Occupational Therapists who provide services and support in the classroom and are available to educate staff, parents, and children.
From 1:00pm-4:30pm our preschool classrooms transition into child care, where the lessons plans are less structured, and the focus is on creativity, socialization, and learning through interaction. We pride ourselves in providing a quality program while keeping our childcare costs at a level most families can afford. Because we follow the school calendar, families pay for child care only when school is in session.
